Prosthodontists are recognized by the American Dental Association as expert specialists in the field of advanced restorative, implant dentistry and cosmetic replacement of natural teeth. After graduating from a four-year accredited dental school, prosthodontists receive an additional three years of specialized training. This experience provides prosthodontists with a special understanding of the dynamics of the smile, preservation of a healthy mouth, and creation of natural esthetics.
Maxillofacial Prosthodontics is a sub-specialty of prosthodontics also recognized by the American Dental Association. Requiring an additional one-year fellowship training, this highly specialized field focuses on the prosthetic and facial reconstruction of head and neck cancer patients, trauma, cleft lip and palate defects. Our involvement with oral cancer patients often involves the preparation and communication with your ENT surgeon or radiation oncologist.
